I can trace my interest in family history back to when I was eleven, when I constructed a rudimentary family tree in the front pages of my school issue Gideon’s bible.
I must have heard that this was the way some family trees were recorded, and as such, my curiosity in my own family history started. This interest was rekindled with the birth of my own children, which I would say was my strongest and most significant inspiration for developing my interest in family history and genealogy. Through them I found myself connected not only to the future, but also to the past.

I worked for Birmingham City Council in a long established career of 40 years, employed as a librarian in various settings and as a tutor for Adult Education Services. I have found that I have been able to transfer my skills, experience and training across to the field of genealogy.
In my quest for excellence I have gained the world-renowned, Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS) Diploma in Genealogy. This practical, hands on approach to study, and my continuing professional development in genealogy, ensures that I work in an informed, meticulous and methodical manner.
I have used my genealogical knowledge and library experience in a variety of ways; conducting research for clients from around the world, in my former role as Pharos Teaching & Tutoring Ltd Online Genealogy Tutor and Mentor, and as Editor for The Midland Ancestor - the journal of the Midland Ancestors (aka BMSGH), the principal family history society for the historic counties of Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
What began as a personal journey of discovery about my own family, has now turned into a passion, whereby I can help others to realise their own family discoveries and history.
